On December 1st, PBC presented a loaded Showtime Boxing pay-per-view card featuring plenty of action and knockouts. The night began with a special Showtime boxing attraction from Quebec City, Canada as the sport’s longest-reigning world champion Adonis Stevenson defended his WBC light heavyweight title for a 10th time against undefeated mandatory challenger Oleksandr Gvozdyk. It was a back-and-forth battle for the first portion of the fight. Stevenson hurt Gvozdyk in the 10th round, but the bout quickly shifted back in Gvozdyk’s favor in the 11th— as the Ukrainian Olympian landed a big right hand that knocked Stevenson down. The referee quickly waved off the bout, and crowned Gvozdyk as the new WBC light heavyweight champ.

Following the bout, Stevenson was taken to the hospital where tests revealed he had suffered a brain injury. The 41-year-old remains hospitalized in stable but critical condition as of this writing.

The action then switched to Showtime pay-per-view as England’s Joe Joyce kept his KO-streak going with a huge first-round knockout of Joe Hanks.

Following Joyce’s 7th career victory, Cuban heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz faced Travis Kauffman. Ortiz scored knockdowns in the sixth, eighth and 10th rounds before the final stoppage coming later in the 10th, giving Ortiz his 26th career stoppage.

In the co-main event unbeaten unified super welterweight champ Jarrett Hurd scored a fourth-round knockout against British Commonwealth Champion Jason Welborn. Welborn pressed the action in the opening rounds but Hurd saw an opportunity to land a devastating body shot that Welborn was not able to recover from.

And in the main event WBC heavyweight champ Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder and “The Gypsy King” Tyson Fury fought to a split-decision draw in one of the most exciting heavyweight title fights in America in years. Fury controlled the fight early while Wilder looked for the perfect moment to land his big right hand. Wilder scored a knockdown in the 9th and another vicious knockdown in the 12th and final round. But Wilder’s celebration was cut short when Fury somehow managed to get back on his feet to finish the fight. The judges scored the bout 115-111 for Wilder, 114-112 for Fury and 113-113, declaring it a draw.
