The two fighters look to pen new chapters in their respective comeback stories when they face off August 1 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, prior to Danny Garcia’s clash with Paulie Malignaggi.

The fights air on ESPN beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

For 160-pound champ and Brooklyn native Daniel Jacobs (29-1, 26 KOs), the bout with Mora is arguably the toughest fight he’s landed since returning to ring after beating cancer in 2012.

“I’ve had so many setbacks, so many challenges, but it just goes to show you that that Brooklyn spirit lives on,” Jacobs says. “It lived through me, and allowed me to persevere through all my hurdles.”

Sergio Mora (28-3-2, 9 KOs), a former 154-pound champ, looks to build upon his current five-fight winning streak following a pair of losses to Brian Vera that temporarily blocked his path to another title shot.

“I went back to the drawing board, worked hard and now I'm blessed to be a part of this great event," said Mora, who won NBC's The Contender series in 2005. "I don't plan to let this opportunity get by me. On August 1, I'm coming to Brooklyn to win.”
