Porter's athletic career through the years

Shawn Porter has had an immensely successful athletic career, even outside of boxing. Here's a look at some of those accomplishments in and outside the squared circle.

1. Porter fought nearly 300 fights in his years as an amateur, which began at a pretty early age.

2. Porter the amateur grew up around some pretty impressive company, as well, including current pro standouts Terence Crawford and Demetrius Andrade.

3. Porter was an all-conference performer on the gridiron at Stow-Munroe Falls High School, located just outside of Akron, Ohio. Porter passed up the opportunity to play college football to pursue a professional boxing career.

4. Porter became a 147-pound champion on Dec. 7, 2013, defeating Devon Alexander via unanimous decision. He hopes to claim his next title in 2015.
