Former 147-pound champion Shawn Porter relocated from his hometown of Akron, Ohio, to Las Vegas to live and train full time in 2013, but he also brought with him a sense of community involvement.

During the holiday season, Porter and those close to him took the opportunity to give back to those in need in his new hometown.

Porter and his father, Kenny, packed supplies for 100 sack lunches that included sandwiches, carrots and chips.

With the help of family members and friends, the lunches were prepared and packed on the morning of Christmas Eve.

That afternoon, Team Porter drove to downtown Las Vegas to distribute the food.

This was the second straight Christmas that Porter has carried out this charitable act, and it’s a tradition they plan on continuing for years to come.

“This is the season of giving,” Porter said on his Facebook page. “And there’s nothing more fulfilling than doing my part.”
