“Magic” will be in the air—or in the ring, at least—when Premier Boxing Champions returns to ESPN with a showdown between former 140- and 147-pound champ Paulie Malignaggi and reigning 140-pound kingpin Danny Garcia.

Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson

Danny Garcia defeated Lamont Peterson in his last fight at the Barclays Center on April 11.

The clash will take place at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on August 1 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, where both fighters have fought on numerous occasions, ensuring that each should have plenty of crowd support in their favor.

For Danny “Swift” Garcia (30-0, 17 KOs), he’ll look to keep his undefeated record intact after his tough majority-decision win over Lamont Peterson in April, which was his fourth Barclays Center fight.

For Paulie “The Magic Man” Malignaggi (33-6, 7 KOs), the fight will mark his first action in the ring since April 2014, when he was stopped in the fourth round by Shawn Porter.

An in-demand boxing commentator, Malignaggi was initially scheduled to take on Danny O’Connor on May 29 on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri bout, also at Barclays Center, but had to withdraw from the fight after suffering a cut over his left eye in training camp.

This will be Malignaggi’s fourth fight at the venue.

Now, it’s time to settle the battle for Barclays Center bragging rights for good.
